Scan Design Furniture, a well-known retailer of Scandinavian and European-inspired home furnishings, is closing its final store following a complete liquidation. The company, which has served the Pacific Northwest for over six decades, will shut its doors for good after its long-running operations. Owner Peter Jacobsen has partnered with Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) to ensure a smooth transition as the business concludes its operations.

Founded in 1964 by Jens and Inger Bruun, Scan Design started in a small store in a converted post office, with the goal of introducing Danish craftsmanship to the region and fostering Danish-American relations. Over time, the business grew into a multi-million-dollar company, eventually operating nine locations at its peak.
The company's last sale will open to the public on January 23, with the store building now sold and available for lease. Tom Liddell, senior vice president of PFP, commented, 'We are honoured to assist Scan Design Furniture in celebrating its legacy of outstanding service and quality,' adding that customers will still receive value during this final phase.
