In July, UK retail prices for furniture continued their downward trend, marking the seventh consecutive month of deflation. Prices for household furniture were 2.4% lower than the previous year, reflecting a consistent decline since January.
Garden furniture experienced another significant drop, falling by 18.1%, marking its fourth consecutive decline. Conversely, furnishings fabrics and curtains saw a rise for the third consecutive month, with prices increasing from 3.6% to 4.3%.

In this same month, retail prices for flooring continued to fall, marking the third consecutive month of deflation, though the rate of decline slowed from 0.9% to 0.6%, according to ONS data. Smooth flooring experienced its eighth month of deflation, with the rate decreasing from 4.1% to 3.6%. Carpet and rug prices rose by 0.4%, up from 0.2% in May (with no data for June), but still far below the 3.3% increase observed in April and 10.6% in January.
