Acimall, the Italian association for woodworking technologies, has released its first-quartre 'Made in Italy' import and export data, crucial for assessing future business strategies amidst global challenges like the pandemic and supply chain disruptions.
The report, based on data from Istat, the Italian statistical office, reveals that Italian woodworking technology exports totalled EUR 379.4 million, marking a 6.1% decline compared to the same period last year.

The analysis highlights contrasting export trends: while exports to Europe outside the EU and the Middle East saw significant declines due to geopolitical tensions and competitive pressures from China, there was stability in exports to the European Union. Notably, North America showed promise with a 4% increase in Italian technology purchases, driven by efforts to reshore production.
Individual country insights reveal a resurgence in sales to the United States and France, contrasting with declines in the UK market. China remains a notable importer of Italian technology, reflecting a 12.9% increase in purchases, continuing a trend from the previous year.

On the import side, Italy saw a 23.9% decrease in foreign technology imports, with notable declines from Germany and China, while Austria recorded an increase. The European Union remained the primary source despite a decline in volume.
