Authorities investigate Russia's role in major mall fire

Polish furniture retailer lost all income after fire

Furniture dealer Sylwia Krzyzanowska initially thought her shop had also gone up in flames. Friends called at 8am that a big fire was raging in the shopping centre outside the Polish capital Warsaw, where she has a furniture shop, reports NOS Central and Eastern Europe correspondent Christiaan Paauwe.

Sylwia Krzyzanowska, owner of a furniture shop in shopping centre Marywilska 44 near Warsaw, initially thought her shop had been destroyed by a major fire. Fortunately, her business was spared, but the fire destroyed the main building and led to a complete loss of all income.

Despite speculation about Russian involvement, Krzyzanowska stresses the importance of the investigation. Meanwhile, she and other entrepreneurs are trying to win back customers through advertisements. The investigation into the fire is being conducted by the national prosecutor's office because of suspicions of organised crime.
