Despite competition from other European countries, such as Germany and Poland

French bedding production saw an 8% increase

The Parlons Literie collective recently released a press release analysing the trends in the bedding market in France based on data from the Institute for Prospective and Furnishing Studies (IPEA).

Despite the broader decline in the furniture market, bedding sales only saw a slight decrease of 0.5% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. This performance is attributed to the continued opening of stores, although the economic situation remains challenging.

However, recent data from IPEA regarding the performance of the furniture market in April has confirmed a sharper decline, with the overall market down by 9% compared to April 2023. Although the bedding market experienced the smallest decline in April, it still faced challenges proportionate to the overall market decline.

On the industry side, French bedding production has shown signs of recovery after a decline in activity in previous years. Despite facing competition from other European countries, such as Germany and Poland, French bedding production saw an 8% increase in the first two months of 2024.
