UK furniture production experiences decline

In April 2024, the production of UK furniture experienced a slight decline compared to the previous month, with the rate decreasing by 1.4%. Additionally, there was an 8.1% decrease in furniture production compared to April of the previous year.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), production output in April 2024 is estimated to have fallen by 0.9%, following a modest growth of 0.2% in March 2024.

The value of furniture manufacturing for April amounted to £848.9 million, showing a decrease of 2.1% from £867.6 million in March. However, compared to the same period last year, the value increased by 2.4% from £828.9 million.

On the domestic front, the value of furniture manufacturing decreased by 1.8% to £799.6 million from £814.3 million in the month, while showing an increase of 2.5% from £779.4 million compared to the previous year.

Exports of furniture manufacturing saw a decline, with the value decreasing by 7.5% to £49.3 million from £53.3 million in the previous month.
