Marks & Spencer announces London expansion and new CFO

Marks & Spencer continues to expand and align itself with future growth strategies. The company plans to invest £30 million in its London store network over the next year, creating around 100 new jobs. And the company has announced a new CFO.

The retailer announced it will revamp 12 existing stores in the city. Stores slated for updates include those in Teddington, Blackheath, Islington, and Chancery Lane. These refreshed stores will feature expanded in-store bakeries, as well as dedicated flower and wine shops, and will offer click-and-collect services.

This investment is part of M&S's Reshape for Growth strategy, which includes a store rotation programme. Last week, the retailer reported that its investment in new stores is paying off, with the new sites performing better than expected.

It also recently announced the appointment of a new CFO. Alison Dolan is taking over from interim CFO Jeremy Townsend. The exact start date for Alison will be made public in due course. Dolan's experience in digitally led businesses is anticipated to help the company in its next phase of transformation.
