German furniture manufacturers report challenging month in March

In March, German upholstered furniture manufacturers experienced a revenue decline of 20.53% compared to the same month last year. According to the Association of the German Upholstered Furniture Industry, companies with more than 50 employees generated 92.5 million euros. Domestic sales amounted to 64.9 million euros, reflecting a decrease of 17.63%. Foreign sales dropped by 26.6% to 27.56 million euros, with sales in the Eurozone falling by 35.7% to 9.24 million euros. The export share decreased by 2.47% to 29.8%.

For the first quarter, total revenue amounted to 261.375 million euros, down 14.71% compared to the same quarter last year. Of this, 180.265 million euros were generated domestically (-13.41%) and 81.11 million euros internationally (-18.01%). Revenue in the Eurozone for the first quarter was 28.6 million euros (-24.92%), with an export share of 30.96% (-1.32%).
