According to the latest Industry Radar Resilient Floor Coverings and Laminate in Switzerland, manufacturer revenues fell by 9.0 percent year-on-year to a total of 85.2 million Swiss francs in 2023. Year-on-year, sales of laminate flooring fell by 9.6 percent and elastic floor coverings by 8.5 percent. In both product groups, ninety percent or more of the decline in sales was attributable to renovation.

'Inflation, multiple crises and unencouraging economic prospects are causing private households and companies to tighten their belts,' says study author Dominique Otto. 'Non-essential investments are therefore being postponed in many places.' In the market for resilient floor coverings, sales fell in almost all product groups, but particularly sharply in cushioned vinyls, design coverings and homogeneous PVC. There was only a slight increase in sales of heterogeneous PVC and vinyl flooring.
