The company Tarkett GDL, which produces floor coverings, announced its intention to cut 126 jobs, including the entire 4-metre coating line in Lentzweiler. This sparked outrage among the employees, as evidenced by the reaction of Alain Rolling, central secretary of the OGBL. He describes the company's action as a betrayal of the employees' trust, especially since an employment retention plan had been approved by the Minister of Labour shortly before.
Tarkett justifies the decision by citing a lack of technological versatility and market conditions. The union leader insists on a meeting with the minister to discuss alternatives before further negotiations take place.
