Authorities have warned against a slew of fraudulent actors trying to make quick money by deceiving e-commerce consumers into purchases. In many of these instances they have used payment service, Klarna, as part of their scheme on scam pages. They lure with attractive prices, professional websites, and well-known payment partners and often Klarna has been the payment provider in the checkout.

However, when the consumer places their order, everything goes wrong. Many times, no goods are sent at all, but if they are, they do not match the product descriptions or have significant quality deficiencies. Contacting the seller for a return and refund is almost exclusively impossible.
The cases have been brought before the Consumer Complaints Board, ARN, and are under investigation.
