Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Häfele and inspected sustainable space concepts

Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently visited the German company Häfele and inspected its sustainable space concepts. The company visit was at the Nagold family business, with a 100-year tradition, openness to the world, and courage for change.

During his visit to the family business Häfele in Nagold on March 5, 2024, Chancellor Olaf Scholz gained insights into how a traditional industry can develop successfully and what topics are currently moving the employees and the company. Started 100 years ago as a specialist shop for carpentry supplies, Häfele is now considered the world's leading expert in intelligent fitting technology, electronic locking systems, as well as lighting and networking. Drivers of this development were strong entrepreneurial personalities, all of whom stood for openness to the world, internationality, and corporate responsibility.

The Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Sibylle Thierer, led the company for 20 years until 2023. 'As a family entrepreneur, you can achieve a lot,' she looked back on her decision to take over the management. She introduced the topic of furniture lighting, then expanded the range of services to include room lighting and networking. Häfele's expertise in connecting both and other functions in the interior smartly makes it a pioneer. By training and educating its own employees, as well as customers from the carpentry industry, Häfele thus tapped into new business areas. With the remark 'We Germans are known for our organisational talent,' Sibylle Thierer offered the Chancellor an interesting perspective on how local competencies can be used for future topics such as networking.
