Frederik Vanpevenaeyge from Belgian brand Wünder talks about Maison&Objet debut:

'My personal highlight was the launch of our new model The Duo'

Since its inception in 2017, the Belgian company Wünder has steadily carved out its place in the world of outdoor furniture. 'Wünder began its journey with a clear vision: to create innovative furniture that was not only aesthetically appealing but also sustainable and functional,' says Frederik Vanpevenaeyge, Business Developer at Wünder. In an interview, he tells more about the company's beginnings and their very first participation in the Maison&Objet fair in Paris.

The start of Wünder
After its founding in 2017, the company spent the first three years fully dedicated to product development. 'Think design, but also sustainability, smart-packaging (flatpacks), distribution, and so on. In 2020, when all preparations were worked out in detail and the first models were physically ready, it was time for the real brand launch,' says Frederik.

With a focus on product development, sustainability, and colourful aesthetics, the company has created an identity that is appreciated both within and outside the Benelux. 'We currently work with around 30 dealers, mainly spread across the Benelux, but also in Germany, the United Kingdom, etc. In Spain, Italy, and France, we also work with a network of agents acting as intermediaries. In addition, we are also well represented among architects, garden architects, landscapers, real estate developers, etc. The project market is therefore an important market for us, and here too we are growing every day.'

Materials
Offering furniture in any desired RAL colour enables companies and public institutions to strengthen their brand identity, while the durability of the materials enhances the overall experience.

One of the features that distinguishes Wünder is the use of various materials in their products. From metallised steel to tropical hardwood such as Afzelia, the company aims for sustainability without compromising on style and functionality. Each piece is carefully crafted, with aluminium and steel used for stability and durability, while wood species like Afzelia offer a natural, timeless appeal.

Maison&Objet debut
Participation in events like Maison&Objet has allowed Wünder to showcase its products to a global audience. 'Maison&Objet was a fantastic experience! It was our first time, and the organisation had given us an extremely good location: in a main aisle, right at the door to another hall. So, besides the people who wanted to see us, we also had a lot of foot traffic, and the feedback was unanimously positive. We brought home a huge set of good contacts, and of course, the necessary orders,' Frederik explains.

'My personal highlight was the official launch of our new model, The Duo. Our most compact piece of furniture to date, specifically designed for apartments, urban gardens, and smaller terraces, but also for bistros, restaurants, cafes, and hotels. There was also a lot of interest from this latter category at the fair.'

The Duo is designed for two people and consists of an aluminium tabletop and seats, supported by a sturdy steel base. The robust yet flexible design ensures stability on any surface, making it a reliable and versatile addition to any outdoor space.

In May, Wünder will be at Design District in Rotterdam.
