'Tietoevry has taken immediate action to investigate and mitigate the situation effectively. At this stage, it is not possible to estimate how long the work will take,'the company states.

Granngården, specialised in products related to agriculture, gardening, and outdoor living, was affected on Saturday (20 January) and has closed both its e-commerce and physical stores due to malfunctioning cash register systems. Rusta has its physical stores open, but their e-commerce platforms are completely shut down.

'We are working to restore the systems to normal operation as soon as possible. There is currently no forecast for when it will be fully resolved,' Rusta commented to its customers.

It is unclear what data the hackers have accessed so far. A ransomware attack involves hackers gaining access to data, which they then use for extortion. The retail sector is particularly vulnerable since it generally conducts a large number of online transactions every day.
