Doing Goods and GoodWeave join forces to prevent child labour

GoodWeave International and home accessory brand Doing Goods, announce a new partnership to combat child and forced labour in carpet supply chains. GoodWeave operates a licensing and certification program which offers the best assurance that textile products are made without child and forced labour.

Doing Goods is GoodWeave’s second Dutch licensee. The company joins more than 195 other import and retail brands selling GoodWeave certified rugs and home textiles around the world. By becoming a GoodWeave licensee, the company commits to having its carpet supply chain in India audited annually and inspected randomly on an ongoing basis.

Doing Good’s entire signature Tapis Amis Collection now carries the GoodWeave® label, and certified rugs are available at Doing Goods retailers as well as online. Additionally, Doing Goods will help further educate the marketplace about the need to eliminate child and worker exploitation in global supply chains by highlighting its commitment on its website and in other communications.

'We are very thankful to Doing Goods for taking a stand and playing a leadership role on this issue. The work we are doing together serves as an example for other companies in the Netherlands and around the world, especially with the Responsible and Sustainable International Business Conduct Act and similar laws forthcoming,' says GoodWeave International CEO Jon Jacoby.

'The family we work with in India has been making carpets for generations. Our relationship is special, strong and equal. Together we have built a pleasant, clean and safe workplace for the makers. GoodWeave’s work fits in flawlessly with this: providing assurance that carpets are made without child or forced labour. We are therefore pleased with the start of our collaboration,' says Aanyoung Yeh, founder and creative director of Doing Goods
