Furniture associations unveil sector concept for German supply chain law

Today’s global supply chains are often criticised for neglecting human rights and environmental standards. The German Supply Chain Act (LkSG), effective from January 2023 for companies with 3,000 employees in Germany, demands compliance with strict regulations. By 2024, firms with over 1,000 employees will also fall under its mandate.

To evade liabilities, companies must meet nine key requirements outlined in the Act, including robust risk management, compliance responsibility, routine assessments, and documentation.

In response, furniture associations, with partners, developed a comprehensive industry guide. It offers templates and recommendations for a smoother transition to align with the law, aiming for a more responsible industry landscape. The guide is a crucial step as companies navigate the complexities of global supply chains while aiming for compliance and a sustainable future.
