Repurposed corn cobs create sustainable walls

Belgian companies StoneCycling and Circular Matters introduce Cornwall: repurposing discarded corn cobs into reusable walls and cladding. These biomass leftovers, offer an eco-friendly alternative sourced from Western European corn cobs.

Circular Matters utilizes a pressing technique, subjecting discarded corn cobs' cores to around 150 degrees Celsius, activating the biomass's polymers to create a robust and stable product. This process is electricity-powered, mainly sourced from solar panels on the workshop's roof. Looking ahead, Circular Matters aims to establish a recycling program, allowing CornWall products, upon removal from walls, to be returned and repurposed, contributing to a sustainable lifecycle.
