Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has faced scrutiny for previous remarks he made regarding unions. The National Labour Relations Board (NLRB) in the US recently reached a verdict after examining Jassy's statements in various interviews from 2022.

In these interviews, Jassy reportedly suggested that workers would be better off without joining or forming a union, a sentiment he apparently expressed multiple times. The NLRB concluded that by doing so, he effectively discouraged employees from supporting unions, which is considered a violation of labour laws.
One of Jassy's remarks in an interview was along the lines of preferring to empower employees to address concerns directly rather than going through a union, implying unions were bureaucratic and slow.
'We disagree that any part of these comments were inappropriate and intend to appeal. The decision paints a poor picture of the state of free speech today, and we remain optimistic that we will be able to continue to engage in reasonable discussion about these issues where all perspectives have an opportunity to be heard,' Amazon said in a statement.
