Ritzwell:

'Our value is to reach a synthesis between Japanese philosophy and contemporary taste'

Founded in 1992 in Fukuoka, on the northern coast of the island of Kyushu, Ritzwell has grown into an important contemporary Japanese furniture manufacturer with a history made of passion, research, and success.

The company has made a name for itself on the global market through several crucial operations, including its recent participation in Salone del Mobile.Milano. Since its first participation at the famous Italian fair in 2008, the company - which has received several prestigious awards over the years - has been able to conquer international markets without ever straying from its values, which seek to reach a synthesis between the fundamentals of Japanese philosophy and an essential formal language responding to contemporary taste.

In 2019, the company built the Itoshima Seaside Factory, a new production site in Itoshima City - near Fukuoka, just a few steps from the sea and immersed in an area distinguished by its lush vegetation where labour draws its harmony from the constant contact with nature. Designed by architect Shigemi Imoto - owner of the firm Imoto Architects - the new factory is literally set between the wide bay of the Genkai Sea and the lush surrounding vegetation. Its architecture is in perfect osmosis with Nature and fully expresses the philosophy of the brand, which has always been inspired by the genius loci and by traditions of craftsmanship that have been reflected in the brand's production since its origin. The contact with natural light, vegetation and the sea is a crucial element for Ritzwell's craftsmen to develop a deep inner peace and a harmonious sense of beauty which they transfer into the products they create.

The different pieces of furniture preserve the memory of the hands that have created them and, in turn, become conveyors of harmony in the environments they embellish.

Ritzwell's capillary distribution network crosses national borders and spreads all over the world. Its founder, Toshiaki Miyamoto, had the mission of leaving his mark internationally with his exclusive designs and use of top-quality materials, such as walnut and oak wood. His efforts are the result of a significant research aimed at retaining as much of the original appearance of the material as possible, while exploring its characteristics and workability.

It is Ritzwell's conviction that fine work depends not only on the use of selected materials, but also on the sensitivity of the minds and hands of the craftsmen who shape them and the care with which they devote themselves to each process. When sewing upholstery, for example, loosening or tightening a thread plays an important role in defining the aesthetics of the upholstery.

Every item designed by the brand preserves the value of the hands that created it and fulfils a function that belongs not only to the body or the eyes, but also to the soul, which recognises its harmony and profound qualities. Not only does it furnish the home, it 'inhabits' it, like another member of the family.
