Portuguese brand Antarte celebrates the opening of their own museum

The Portuguese brand Antarte recently celebrated the inauguration of the Antarte Center and the Antarte Museum. It was attended by the President of the Republic of East Timor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, José Ramos-Horta, and the first Portuguese Pritzker Prize winner, architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.

The Antarte Museum reflects the history of woodworking - from ancient Egypt to the 21st century - culminating in the establishment of the Antarte brand in 1998. It is also a reflection of the journey of Antarte in its 25 years of existence.

This space is the result of Antarte's desire to build the first museum in the history of woodworking. The aim is to shed light on an ancient craft linked to the progress of civilizations.

In his speech to the two hundred guests, Mário Rocha, founder and CEO, considered the Antarte Museum as a dream come true. "I started my career in carpentry, which I consider as the filigree of woodworking. I had the ambition to pay tribute to an ancient craft that was poorly documented."
