1949 - 2024
The CH24 Wishbone Chair was one of the first ideas presented by the young designer, Hans J Wegner, in 1949 to Holger Hansen, second-generation owner of Carl Hansen & Søn. Seeing great promise in Wegner's innate ability to blend innovative new forms with traditional craft, the pair began a collaboration that would last for many years. Characterised by a sculptural steam-bent frame and signature wishbone back-rest, the chair introduced a new and modern typology that championed simplicity, quality materials and, first and foremost, comfort.
In constant production since 1950, the Wishbone Chair has been coveted for generations and admired for its warm, timeless appeal. Carl Hansen & Søn is delighted to present this cherished design for a younger generation of future design enthusiasts who can grow to appreciate beautiful craftsmanship.
