Donald Judd Foundation sues Kim Kardashian over alleged counterfeit furniture

The Judd Foundation filed a lawsuit against Kim Kardashian in California federal court, alleging that she showcased counterfeit versions of artist Donald Judd's furniture in a YouTube video. The lawsuit claims that Kardashian falsely represented furniture from Los Angeles-based Clements Design as genuine Judd pieces, leading to accusations of false endorsement and infringement. Rainer Judd, president of the foundation and Judd's daughter, emphasised the importance of preserving her father's legacy and stated that the existence of fake furniture undermines his original work. Donald Judd, a prominent figure in minimalist art, passed away in 1994, leaving behind a legacy that includes works displayed in prestigious museums worldwide. The foundation meticulously follows Judd's specifications when selling his furniture designs. Media coverage inaccurately attributed the furniture in Kardashian's video to Judd Foundation, leading consumers to believe a connection between Kardashian and Judd's brand. Despite requests to rectify the situation, both Clements Design and Kardashian allegedly refused, prompting the foundation to pursue legal action.
