Tarkett accelerates climate push with major emissions cuts

Tarkett has reported significant progress in its sustainability efforts, cutting value-chain greenhouse gas emissions by 27% over the past six years, in line with its 2030 targets.

In its 2025 Sustainability Statement, published in compliance with EU regulations, the flooring specialist outlined advances across materials, energy use and recycling. Recycled materials now account for 20% of raw inputs, up from 10% in 2018, with a target of 30% by 2030. In total, 160,000 tonnes of recycled materials were used in 2025.

Renewable energy represents 43% of total consumption, with 16 manufacturing sites operating on 100% renewable electricity. The company also reduced emissions through biomass energy use, avoiding 12.4 kt of CO₂e.

Tarkett's ReStart® recycling programme is now active in 29 countries, collecting 129,000 tonnes of end-of-life flooring to date. Additional initiatives include partnerships with clients such as IKEA and the expansion of reuse schemes for carpet tiles.

CEO Fabrice Barthélemy said the company is continuing to work with partners to 'lead our industry' in sustainability, while acknowledging that further progress is still required.
