Wickes has unveiled plans to expand its UK store network to 300 locations, signalling a long-term growth push following strong performance across its business.
The DIY retailer, which currently operates around 230 stores, aims to open approximately 70 additional sites over the coming years. In the near term, it expects to launch four to five new stores in 2026 while refurbishing between 15 and 25 existing locations.

Expansion is set to accelerate from 2028, with Wickes targeting more than 10 new store openings annually alongside continued upgrades to its estate.
The strategy will focus on "white space opportunities" and under-served towns and cities, with an emphasis on flexible formats. The company noted that smaller store footprints have proven successful, enabling it to enter areas with lower population density and broaden its reach.
Over the next two years, Wickes will prioritise building its property pipeline, including site identification, planning approvals and securing commercial terms.
The move builds on recent activity, including five store openings in 2025, four of which were former Homebase locations, while three underperforming sites were closed during the same period.
