Søstrene Grene opens sustainable distribution centre in Venlo

Danish retail chain Søstrene Grene and property developer Prologis will open Søstrene Grene's new distribution centre in Venlo, the Netherlands, on 23 April 2026. The centre covers more than 45,000 m² and supports the chain's further expansion in Europe, while contributing to CO₂ reduction in transport and logistics.

Søstrene Grene, a family-owned company with more than 400 shops in 17 European markets, aims to expand to 500 shops within a few years. The new distribution centre enables faster and more efficient delivery of products to shops and online customers, reducing CO₂ emissions from transport.

The Venlo centre is Søstrene Grene's second distribution centre, in addition to its existing 28,000 m² location in Denmark. The building is sustainably certified and equipped with solar panels, robot technology and an automated system that optimises logistics operations and supports the company's sustainability goals. With reduced driving distances to shops and customers, the centre contributes to a lower carbon footprint.

Søstrene Grene has offered a wide range of home decoration, furniture, hobby items, kitchen stuff, toys and gift items since 1973 and strives to create daily moments of 'hygge'. The family-run business actively works to reduce its climate impact by, among other things, using recycled materials, ending disposable products and more efficient logistics. The company has ambitious climate targets towards 2034, validated by the international standard Science Based Targets Initiative.
