MoscaPartners turns Palazzo Litta into a living laboratory of metamorphosis

MoscaPartners Variations returns to Palazzo Litta during Milan Design Week 2026 with an international exhibition centred on transformation, experimentation and regenerative design.

Running from 21 to 26 April, the 2026 edition is built around the theme Metamorphosis and brings together 25 exhibitors from 11 countries, spanning companies, architects, designers, artists, schools and universities. The programme explores how design is evolving through new materials, technologies and formal languages, while placing renewed emphasis on the relationship between people, space and the planet.

Opening the exhibition in the Cortile d'Onore is Metamorphosis in Motion, the first outdoor site-specific solo installation in Italy by architect Lina Ghotmeh. Conceived as a "living spatial ecosystem", the work acts as a conceptual threshold for the wider exhibition, inviting visitors into an immersive journey through the courtyards and historic rooms of Palazzo Litta.

For founder Caterina Mosca, the theme goes beyond aesthetics. "For us, the theme Metamorphosis is not a mere aesthetic exploration, but the very essence of design understood as dynamic adaptation: a need for profound change that looks beyond the object to focus on regeneration and a new balance between human beings and the natural environment."

This year's edition reflects MoscaPartners' long-standing curatorial approach, first established at Palazzo Litta in 2014, which seeks to connect research, innovation and cultural dialogue. The event once again transforms the Lombard Baroque palace into a platform for contemporary experimentation, where historic architecture meets forward-looking design.

The 2026 line-up includes a wide range of installations and projects addressing sustainability, craftsmanship, material research and new forms of interaction. Among the participants are Adrenalina, Emmanuel Babled, BASE TIMES Kawaguchi, NovaBell Ceramiche, Fratelli Levaggi, MV Line, NABA, Politecnico di Milano, Poltronova and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, among others.

Across the exhibition, participants investigate design as a tool for change, whether through industrial production, limited series, sensory installations or educational research. The result is a collective narrative that positions creativity as a means of adapting to contemporary challenges and imagining new models of living.

With Metamorphosis, MoscaPartners Variations 2026 reaffirms Palazzo Litta as one of Milan Design Week's most distinctive destinations, where architecture, design and cultural reflection converge in an evolving dialogue.
