Snaidero celebrates 80 years of kitchen innovation

Italian kitchen manufacturer Snaidero is marking its 80th anniversary, highlighting a legacy that has helped shape modern kitchen design through modularity, innovation and international expansion.

Founded in 1946 by Rino Snaidero as a small workshop in Majano, Italy, the company evolved into one of the most recognised names in global kitchen furniture. From its early years, Snaidero focused on rethinking the kitchen as a flexible, adaptable space—an approach that would later define the modern modular kitchen concept.

A key milestone came in 1968 with the launch of Spazio Vivo, designed by Virgilio Forchiassin. The project, one of the first truly modular kitchen systems, gained international recognition and was later included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. This positioned Snaidero as a pioneer in combining functionality, customisation and design.

Over the decades, the brand has collaborated with leading designers and architects, including Pininfarina, Gae Aulenti and Massimo Iosa Ghini, blending industrial innovation with Italian design culture. These collaborations resulted in iconic collections such as Ola and Vision, which combine sculptural forms with advanced materials and engineering.

Today, Snaidero operates in more than 60 countries, reflecting a strong export-driven strategy that has been central to its growth since the late 1960s. According to the company, further expansion is planned through targeted distribution development in key global markets.

The brand's product offering is structured around two main pillars: modular systems, focused on adaptability and customisation, and high-design collections that emphasise distinctive aesthetics and architectural presence. Across both segments, material innovation remains a key focus, with the use of wood, glass, ceramics, aluminium and advanced coatings.

Snaidero's headquarters in Majano, designed by architect Angelo Mangiarotti and completed in 1978, remains a symbol of the company's commitment to design, research and forward-thinking industrial processes.

As the company celebrates its anniversary, it continues to position itself at the intersection of design, technology and evolving living habits. The concept of the "kitchen for life", a space that adapts to changing lifestyles, remains central to its philosophy.

With ongoing investment in design collaborations and international distribution, Snaidero aims to build on its heritage while responding to new demands in the global interiors market, where flexibility, personalisation and long-term value are becoming increasingly important.
