HC28 maison reimagines living spaces with ‘life as scene’ concept at CIFF Guangzhou

HC28 maison presented its latest concept, "Life as Scene," at the 57th China (Guangzhou) International Furniture Fair (CIFF) on 18 March 2026, offering a spatial narrative that moves beyond conventional product displays towards a holistic interpretation of contemporary living.

Rather than showcasing individual pieces, the brand introduced an architectural booth designed to express "a complete way of living, connecting space, scene, and lifestyle." The concept is grounded in the idea that "space is only the container; life is made up of shifting scenes, relaxing at home, gathering, working, or spending time alone." By organising interiors around these evolving scenarios, HC28 maison positions design as an experiential framework rather than a purely visual exercise.

The exhibition space was conceived as a "Living 'Neighbourhood'," structured like a compact urban block integrating private interiors with the open HC28 Café. Within this layout, four interconnected zones, living and study, bedroom and dressing, dining and social space, and café, were presented as fluid environments rather than distinct rooms. The transitions between functions were intentionally seamless, reflecting contemporary patterns of use where "working blends with living, socialising flows into dining, reflecting how people actually live today."

This approach signals a broader strategic shift for the brand "from a product-driven approach to a user-centred one." Design development begins with behavioural patterns, how individuals "move, interact, and switch between different states," with furniture and custom systems conceived in tandem. As outlined in the presentation, "one shapes behaviour, the other defines spatial order," aiming "not just to furnish a space, but to organise life within it."

In parallel, HC28 maison is evolving its commercial model "from single-product retail to one-stop solutions." By integrating loose furniture with modular systems, the company likens its offering to "software and hardware, creating a complete and flexible living system." Central to this philosophy is "restraint: allowing space, proportion, and material to support life, rather than overpower it."

With this installation, HC28 maison underscores a direction that aligns with shifting global expectations around residential design, where adaptability, cohesion, and user experience are increasingly prioritised.
