Bringing together more than 500 brands from over 20 countries and regions, the exhibition was structured across four curated sections: Furniture & Lighting, Kitchen, Bathroom & Systems Design, New Materials & Applications, and Living & Lifestyle. The event presented a comprehensive overview of contemporary design, spanning craftsmanship, material innovation and evolving functional aesthetics.

"Over the past twelve years, we have built a bridge between Eastern and Western design communities, witnessing the growing influence of design. For our 13th edition, returning to our original venue, we brought together over 500 brands and 150 design pioneers from more than 20 countries. Design Shanghai 2026 united an inspiring community to explore how design shapes the way we live, sparking dialogue between tradition and innovation, from reimagined craftsmanship to sustainable materials. The show highlighted a shared commitment to human-centred design, where quality, cultural identity and harmony with nature become tangible outcomes, reflecting Asia's growing confidence on the global design stage," said Zhuo Tan, Show Director of Design Shanghai.

The 2026 edition highlighted the increasing prominence of Chinese design, with studios and brands such as SHANG XIA, U+, PUSU and WULEN ART showcasing regionally rooted yet globally relevant work. Collectible design also played a central role, reflecting a growing demand for craftsmanship-led pieces within the Asian market.

International participation remained strong, with brands including GUBI, Lasvit, BD Barcelona, Glas Italia and Villeroy & Boch presenting products tailored to both global and Asian audiences. Notable presentations included GUBI's reintroduction of Tito Agnoli's 1964 P3 Collection, adapted for contemporary indoor-outdoor use.

The show's talks programme featured over 150 speakers, including Marcel Wanders, addressing topics such as urban futures, AI in design and heritage craft revival. Emerging talent was spotlighted through the TALENTS section and awards, while dedicated features such as Made in JDZ and Beyond Craft explored the intersection of tradition and contemporary practice.

Extending beyond the exhibition halls, the Design in the City programme activated Shanghai with over 100 design locations and public events.

Looking ahead, Design Shanghai will return from 4–7 March 2027, continuing its role in shaping the global design conversation.
