Danish furniture makers double down on US growth despite tariff tensions

Danish furniture manufacturers are continuing to expand in the US market despite earlier fears over punitive tariffs linked to trade tensions.

Companies including Onecollection and Core One report that the anticipated negative impact of US tariffs has largely failed to materialise. While tariffs of up to 45% were previously feared on goods produced in countries such as Vietnam, both firms say sales in the US have remained stable, with some even identifying further growth opportunities.

Onecollection is amongst the companies that are setting sights on US expansion.

Onecollection has benefited from shifting more production back to Denmark, allowing it to operate under EU-US trade terms with lower tariffs. Co-founder Hans Henrik Sørensen stated that the company has not experienced a direct impact from US political rhetoric, adding that its diversified global presence provides resilience.

Similarly, Core One, which manufactures in Vietnam, has maintained stable US revenue despite earlier concerns. CEO Peter Flaskager Laursen confirmed the company is now increasing its focus on the US as part of a broader growth strategy.

While some Vietnam-based manufacturers reliant on US exports have faced severe disruption, including layoffs, these Danish firms have avoided significant fallout. Overall, the US remains a key strategic market, supported by diversification and adaptive production strategies.
