Office chair recall raises safety concerns over home working products

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall of 2,200 office chairs sold at HomeGoods due to a potential fall hazard.

The recall affects height-adjustable swivel chairs imported by Tainoki Fine Furniture, with a defect in the base that may bend under use. Although no injuries have been reported, consumers are advised to stop using the products immediately.

The affected chairs were sold between August and December 2025, priced between $180 and $200. Models included in the recall are the Noah, Owen and Warren office chairs, available in multiple colour variants. Product identification details can be found on labels beneath the seat.

Consumers are instructed to participate in the recall process by submitting images of the product, along with proof of destruction, in order to receive a full refund.

The case highlights ongoing safety risks associated with home office furniture, particularly as demand for such products remains elevated. It also underscores the importance for retailers to monitor product quality and proactively address potential defects within key categories.
