Bold hues redefine interiors as 2026 colour trends shift dramatically

Interior design trends for 2026 signal a clear departure from traditional palettes, with colours evolving into richer, more complex tones that reshape the atmosphere of modern homes.

Blue emerges as the dominant shade, particularly in stronger variations ranging from icy tones to deep, ink-like hues. It is frequently paired with green, creating sophisticated blue-green combinations, while emerald green also gains prominence in furniture and finishes.

Warm tones are equally influential. Amber, often described as "burnt caramel", is replacing classic browns, appearing across walls, flooring and furnishings. Meanwhile, red takes on a deeper, more refined character in the form of Burgundy, used selectively as an accent to add depth and contrast.

Neutral schemes are also evolving. Ivory, or soft buttery yellow, is overtaking stark white as a preferred base colour, offering a warmer and more versatile backdrop for interiors.

Overall, the 2026 palette reflects a broader shift towards expressive yet balanced environments, where bold colours are carefully integrated to create harmony rather than overwhelm.
