Swedish flooring specialist Bolon will present RIQUADRO, a new installation created in collaboration with Italian designer Martino Gamper, during Milan Design Week 2026.
Hosted at Bolon Studio as part of Capsule Plaza, the installation challenges conventional perceptions of flooring by transforming it into an active architectural and artistic element. Rather than serving as a passive backdrop, flooring is explored as a dynamic surface that shapes spatial experience.

At the core of RIQUADRO is Gamper's experimental approach, treating the loom as a creative tool for drawing and composition. By cutting, layering and recombining woven materials, the installation forms a series of wall-framed and spatial compositions that together create a kaleidoscopic environment of colour, texture and geometry.
Gamper explains that the works are intentionally tactile, inviting everyday interaction: designed to be "walked on, lived with and experienced."
Sustainability meets material exploration
The project also highlights Bolon's commitment to sustainability. The company's flooring products are climate-neutral, produced using renewable energy, and contain 68% recycled material with zero climate impact per square metre.
The installation coincides with Earth Day (22 April), reinforcing the brand's focus on environmentally responsible design.
Owners Marie and Annica Eklund describe the collaboration as a way to open a new dialogue around flooring, positioning it as an expressive, integral component of interiors rather than a purely functional surface.
