Interior designer Anna Casciarri reflects:

Why good architects will outlast the AI design boom

Interior designer Anna Casciarri believes artificial intelligence will not replace skilled architects, despite its growing role in generating inspiration and visual content. She argues that AI still cannot produce fully resolved interiors that account for technical, functional and installation requirements, and instead creates images that often contain errors obvious to professionals.

Casciarri says the profession will evolve, but mainly in response to wider social and economic change rather than technology alone. She points to rising demand for compact living solutions, senior-friendly homes and the refurbishment of existing properties, as the role of the home continues to shift.

While online platforms and AI tools may make design feel more accessible, she maintains that architects remain essential for more complex projects, helping clients avoid costly mistakes and identify reliable solutions. She also notes that not every client needs an architect, but professional support becomes vital when interiors require a higher level of planning and execution.

Casciarri adds that Polish clients are becoming more design-aware and internationally influenced, while photorealistic visualisations now play a crucial role in decision-making. She also calls on furniture manufacturers to improve the quality of 3D models and product imagery used by architects.
