Azerbaijan that is located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia has significantly reduced its spending on furniture imports in early 2026, reflecting a notable shift in consumption patterns. According to data from the State Customs Committee, the country imported furniture and related components worth $16.9 million between January and February, marking a decrease of $4.18 million compared to the same period last year.

This represents a 19.8% year-on-year decline, highlighting softer demand for imported furniture products. Despite the drop, furniture imports still accounted for 0.65% of Azerbaijan's total import expenditure during the period.
The decline may point to changing consumer priorities, increased cost sensitivity, or a potential shift toward domestic production and alternative sourcing strategies. It also aligns with broader trends seen in several markets, where economic pressures and global uncertainty are influencing spending on non-essential goods such as furniture.
While the figures cover only the first two months of the year, they suggest a cautious start to 2026 for the country's furniture import sector.
