At the upcoming Salone Internazionale del Bagno (21–26 April 2026), QuadroDesign will present a project that redefines the lifecycle of exhibition design, transforming a temporary installation into permanent, socially impactful architecture.

Designed by Giacomo Moor, the booth in Hall 6 (B41) has been conceived from the outset as a fully reusable and adaptable structure, challenging the conventional notion of short-lived trade fair installations.
From exhibition stand to public infrastructure
Following the event, the installation will be dismantled, transported and reconstructed in Masala, Zambia, where it will become the area's first public bathroom facility. The project will provide essential infrastructure, including toilets, showers and changing rooms, addressing a lack of adequate sanitary conditions in a local context where many women work in nearby markets, often accompanied by children.
The initiative is developed in collaboration with Koalisation, an Italian company active in carbon finance projects in Africa, ensuring the structure's second life is both functional and socially relevant.
A modular and scalable design system
At the core of the project is a modular construction system developed by Giacomo Moor Studio. A custom aluminium joint, combined with a lightweight wooden framework, allows the structure to expand and adapt in multiple directions.
This approach enables the installation to transition seamlessly from a temporary pavilion into a permanent architectural space, complete with enclosed rooms, walls and roofing—demonstrating how design for disassembly can support long-term use.
Sustainability beyond materials
The project reflects QuadroDesign's broader philosophy, where sustainability extends beyond materials to include production, logistics and lifecycle thinking. By embedding reuse into the design process, the company proposes a model in which exhibition architecture becomes a resource rather than waste.
Lighting, designed by Platek, is also integrated into the final structure, reinforcing the project's continuity from temporary installation to permanent environment.
A new paradigm for trade fair design
Installation in Zambia is scheduled for August 2026, marking the completion of a process that begins in Milan but extends far beyond it.
With this initiative, QuadroDesign highlights a growing shift in the industry—where design is increasingly measured not only by aesthetics and innovation, but by its ability to create lasting value and real-world impact.
