At Milan Design Week 2026, Draga & Aurel present "The Shift", an immersive installation at Galleria Rossana Orlandi that redefines the relationship between art and design through movement, layering and perception.

The project explores the concept of the sliding door as both a functional and expressive element. At its core is a diptych by Aurel K. Basedow, positioned behind a series of lucite panels painted with epoxy resin by Draga Obradovic. These translucent panels glide along parallel tracks, continuously altering the viewer's perception of depth, colour and rhythm.
Through this dynamic system, the installation creates a constantly evolving composition. The artwork is no longer static, but becomes part of a spatial mechanism, while the sliding structure moves beyond function to act as a tool for visual transformation.
The interplay between the painted surfaces and moving panels generates a layered environment where colour and gesture extend into the surrounding space, influencing both the artwork and its architectural context. Each shift introduces a new configuration, turning stratification into a central language of the project.
With The Shift, Draga & Aurel blur the boundaries between disciplines, presenting a work where art, design and architecture converge into a single, fluid experience.
The installation will be on view at Galleria Rossana Orlandi, Milan, from 20 to 26 April 2026, with a press preview on 19 April.
