Denmark's High Court has upheld a DKK 45,000 fine against a Danish wood producer following a workplace accident dating back to 2019. The case, which has run for several years, centred on an employee who fell from the back of a van while assembling masonite sheets, resulting in a concussion.

The ruling confirms an earlier district court decision, with judges concluding that the company, Dansk Træemballage, failed to implement sufficient measures to prevent the risk of falls. Prosecutors argued that effective safety precautions were not adequately enforced, despite the company maintaining that it had proper workplace assessments and safety procedures in place.
Dansk Træemballage's CEO, Christian Bisgaard Jensen, expressed disappointment with the outcome, noting that the company had expected to be acquitted and had pursued the appeal on principle.
Headquartered in Håstrup, the company is one of the Nordic region's largest producers of wooden packaging, reporting revenues of around DKK 1.2bn in 2024.
