Fire breaks out at Indian furniture warehouse

A major fire broke out at a furniture warehouse in Chamunda Complex, Bhiwandi (India) (Maharashtra) on March 19, 2026, prompting an immediate emergency response.

According to officials from the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), the blaze started at around 11:30 am, triggering firefighting operations shortly after.

Fire crews from the local fire department arrived at the scene with two fire engines, while the Thane Fire Department deployed an additional jumbo water tanker to help contain the fire.

Emergency services worked to bring the situation under control, with operations ongoing at the time of reporting. No immediate details were available regarding injuries or the extent of damage, though the incident highlights the risks associated with large-scale storage facilities, particularly in high-density industrial areas like Bhiwandi.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and further investigations are expected once the situation is fully contained.
