Global container freight rates continued their upward trend this week, with Drewry's World Container Index rising 2% to $2,172 per 40ft container.

The increase marks a third consecutive weekly gain, driven primarily by stronger pricing on Transpacific routes. Rates from Shanghai to New York jumped 7% to $3,310, while Shanghai to Los Angeles rose 4% to $2,591.
While Asia–Europe routes remained relatively stable, carriers are pushing through higher rates and fuel surcharges amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East.
Disruptions to oil flows and rising fuel costs have prompted shipping lines to introduce emergency surcharges, adding further pressure to freight costs.

With capacity tightening and uncertainty persisting, rates are expected to continue climbing in the coming weeks.
