DFS has reported a strong first half performance, with profits jumping sharply despite continued pressure across the furniture sector.

The sofa retailer posted an 8.7% rise in gross sales to £734.5 million, while underlying pre-tax profit surged to £30.9 million, up from £17 million a year earlier.
Growth was driven by higher margins, resilient order intake and strong performance across both DFS and Sofology, as well as momentum in its expanding homewares category.
The results highlight DFS's ability to grow in a subdued market, supported by product innovation, exclusive partnerships and improved operational efficiency.
