The British Furniture Association (BFA) has recognised industry leaders in sustainability, education and ESG performance at its Future of Furniture Awards, held during the Furniture Component Expo.
The awards celebrate companies and individuals driving positive change across the furniture sector, with a particular focus on environmental responsibility, social value and skills development.

Among the key winners, Whitemeadow received the Excellence in Sustainability award for its long-term environmental strategy, which includes the adoption of solar energy, biomass facilities, improved packaging and investment in electric vehicles.
DFS Group was awarded Excellence in ESG Reporting, recognised for embedding sustainability across its operations through its Sofa Cycle framework and implementing transparent, evidence-based reporting aligned with established ESG standards. The company was also noted for reinforcing its social commitments through its Everyone Welcome culture.
In the education category, ercol secured the Excellence in Education award for its apprenticeship programme, which combines hands-on training with traditional craftsmanship and modern production techniques, alongside strong engagement with schools and colleges.
The Sustainability Champion title was awarded to Jacob Lane, Sustainability Manager at Silentnight, for his work in advancing a science-based approach to product innovation, including the development of a Net Zero plan, carbon product passports and annual carbon reporting.

Phil Spademan, Managing Director of the BFA, highlighted the high standard of entries, noting that the awards reflect the industry's commitment to building a more sustainable and skilled future.
With a growing emphasis on ESG and workforce development, the Future of Furniture Awards underline the sector's shift toward long-term resilience, transparency and responsible manufacturing practices.
