UK home improvement retailer Wickes is accelerating its expansion strategy after reporting strong financial results for the past year.
For the 52 weeks ending 27 December, the company recorded a 5.9% increase in revenue to £1.6 billion, while adjusted pre-tax profit rose 14.4% to £49.9 million. Statutory pre-tax profit more than doubled, reaching £48.7 million compared to £23.2 million the previous year.

The growth was driven by increased volumes across the business, with particularly strong retail performance in categories such as timber, tiling, flooring and paint. Wickes also reported continued momentum in its TradePro membership programme, which has grown to 643,000 active users.
Looking ahead, the company plans to open four to five new stores in 2026 and carry out 15 to 20 refurbishments. From 2028, expansion is expected to accelerate significantly, with more than 10 new store openings and over 20 refits annually.
This strategy supports Wickes' long-term ambition to reach 300 stores across the UK, a move expected to create more than 2,000 jobs.
According to CEO David Wood, the decision to increase investment reflects strong returns from previous store openings and refurbishments, as well as continued demand for Wickes' retail and installation services.
