After many years of dedication to their family business, Mark Zijlstra, owner of the wholesale company Collectione from Venlo, has decided together with his sister Linda to take an important step: the 4,000 m² showroom/cash & carry on Floralaan in Venlo (The Netherlands) is up for sale. The decision is driven by their increasing involvement in the recently established Recovery House Arcen, a specialized care facility for children and young adults struggling with anorexia.

"Since I was fifteen, I have been happily active in our family business. The work has always been my passion, but combining the daily showroom operations with my role as an experiential expert at the Recovery House is becoming increasingly difficult," says Mark Zijlstra.
The Recovery House Arcen opened its doors on January 5 and now provides specialized care seven days a week, with a team of twenty healthcare professionals and close collaboration with hospitals, pediatricians, specialized mental health services, municipalities, and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS). Due to the high demand for support for this vulnerable group, Zijlstra is now also working intensively with young people from home, which limits his time for the family business.

Showroom for sale
The sale of the showroom presents an opportunity for a new entrepreneur to take over a move-in ready location in one of the most sought-after areas in the Netherlands. "The property benefits from high traffic: every visitor on Floralaan passes our location twice," says Zijlstra. He emphasizes the collaboration with neighbor Tica, which has allowed Collectione to benefit from increased visitor flows in recent years. Additionally, over the past eight years, Collectione has built a customer base of 11,000 B2B clients.
In addition to the showroom, the shareholding in the DTF property in Venlo is also available for takeover. There are no immediate sales activities planned here; future use could potentially take place through Tica as a tenant.
With this step, Zijlstra aims to shift his priorities. "Ten years ago, the goal was to grow bigger; now it's about helping children and their families. If we can combine this with a smaller involvement in the interior business, such as through a sales unit with our neighbors, then we are completely satisfied."
With this decision, Zijlstra is creating space to further develop his mission at the Recovery House while giving new entrepreneurs the chance to take advantage of a prominent location in Venlo.
The commercial property is offered for €4.1 million.
