Finnish design brand Artek and American manufacturer Heath Ceramics have introduced a new series of Tile Tables, continuing their long-standing collaboration with a focus on material innovation and craftsmanship.
The collection combines Alvar Aalto's signature bentwood structures with Heath's handcrafted ceramic tiles, bringing together two distinct design traditions rooted in functionality and durability.

A dialogue of wood and ceramics
Each table features a tiled surface available in tonal variations of red, green and white, reflecting Heath Ceramics' expertise in glaze development and material experimentation. The ceramic tops contrast with Artek's iconic wooden frames, creating a balance between warmth and tactility.
The collaboration is built on shared values, including beauty, utility and longevity, which are reflected in both the design approach and material selection.
Limited-edition chess table
A highlight of the collection is the Artek + Heath Chess Table, a reinterpretation of a historical reference to the Max Ernst chess table at Villa Mairea. The piece transforms a square Tile Table into a functional chessboard, accompanied by hand-thrown, hand-glazed ceramic chess pieces that can also be used as small vases.
The chess table is produced in a limited edition of six pieces globally, underlining its collectible character.

Global rollout
The Tile Tables are now available in Europe via Artek Helsinki and the brand's online store, with a broader rollout planned from 22 April 2026 in North America and Asia.
The continued collaboration highlights how traditional techniques can be reinterpreted through contemporary design, merging Finnish modernism with Californian ceramic craftsmanship.
