Kara & Co., led by Kata Balázs, Creative Director, Gubi Ramón, CEO, and Balazs Szabolcs, Technical Manager combines technical expertise in metalworking with contemporary design sensibilities to produce furniture and accessories that are both functional and visually appealing. The brand serves designers, architects, and retailers seeking high-quality, customisable solutions for residential, commercial, and hospitality interiors.
'Kara & Co. was born from the meeting of two worlds: a long-standing family tradition in metalworking and a passion for contemporary design and architecture,' explains Kata. 'Our family company has decades of experience in metal processing and surface treatment, and over time we felt there was an opportunity to translate this technical knowledge into a design-focused brand.'

Positioning within the interior market
The brand operates in a segment where designers and retailers are looking for versatile, durable products that can be adapted to different interior concepts. 'We saw a demand for items that combine high-quality European manufacturing with flexible customisation,' Kata says. 'Our goal is to offer products that can be integrated into residential, commercial, or hospitality interiors without compromising material integrity or aesthetic coherence.'
Kara & Co. explores the expressive potential of metal; a material traditionally associated with industrial or technical applications. 'Metal can also express warmth, elegance, and timeless character in interior spaces,' Kata adds. This approach aligns with a broader trend in interiors, where functional materials increasingly deliver both sculptural and practical value.

Metalworking expertise and production
In-house manufacturing plays a central role in product development. 'Because production happens within our own facilities, design decisions are closely connected to the real behaviour of the material, technical possibilities, and precision engineering,' Kata explains. This enables the team to consider structure, durability, and finishing from the outset.
Powder-coated metal is key to the collection, providing durability alongside a wide colour palette through the RAL system. 'The result is a collection where clean lines meet industrial craftsmanship, and details such as proportions, edges, and surfaces are considered from both aesthetic and technical perspectives,' Kata notes.
Sustainability and long-term use
Sustainability is integrated throughout production. 'Metal is inherently durable and fully recyclable,' Kata says. Sourcing materials locally within Europe reduces environmental impact, while production in the company's Hungarian facilities ensures strict quality control and minimal waste.
Customisable finishes further support longevity, allowing products to remain relevant within individual projects for years. 'Our aim is to create objects that are not seasonal but intended for long-term use,' Kata explains.

Retail and professional collaboration
Kara & Co. seeks partnerships with interior designers, architects, concept stores, and select retailers who value both flexibility and craftsmanship. 'Because our products can be produced in custom RAL colours and finishes, they work both as standalone retail pieces and as integrated elements within larger interior schemes,' Kata says.
From a B2B perspective, the brand offers strategic options for retail assortments. Pieces can complement higher-end furniture and accessory brands while remaining accessible to a broader audience. This approach supports cross-merchandising and reflects the evolving gift category in European interiors.

Future development
Looking ahead, Kara & Co. plans to expand its collection with furniture and interior objects that continue to explore the versatility of metal. 'We are focusing on strengthening our presence within the European design scene through collaborations with international retailers, architects, and interior professionals,' Kata says.
The brand aims to establish itself as a European design name recognised for craftsmanship, functional design, and architectural aesthetics. By combining technical expertise with thoughtful interior solutions, Kara & Co. reflects a wider market trend where material knowledge, customisation, and function converge in contemporary interiors.
'We see potential in products that combine decorative value with usability,' Kata concludes. This perspective mirrors a sector-wide shift, where designers and retailers increasingly seek objects that integrate seamlessly into interiors while offering both longevity and adaptability.
