The transaction includes two adjacent plots covering around 7,000 square metres, featuring landscaped gardens and panoramic sea views in one of the Western Cape's most desirable coastal locations.
The estate has long been recognised locally due to its links to Jooste, who led Steinhoff for many years, as well as to the Rupert family, one of South Africa's most prominent business dynasties.
According to Seeff Property Group, the Voëlklip property was acquired by a group of investors who regard the estate as a long-term strategic investment.
"These properties form part of the historical fabric of Hermanus, and their sale marks the beginning of a new chapter for a truly iconic estate," said Paul Kruger, licensee for Seeff Hermanus.
Kruger added that the buyers appreciate both the heritage of the property and the exceptional setting of Voëlklip, viewing the estate as an opportunity for future development and value creation.
The new owners are currently considering several options for the site's future. Their plans are expected to focus on restoring and enhancing the property while ensuring it continues to contribute positively to the surrounding community.
