A Swedish furniture retailer has been declared bankrupt after more than a decade in business, with its remaining inventory now set to be sold through an online auction. The company, which had been part of the local business community since 2015, ceased operations following prolonged financial difficulties.

According to the bankruptcy trustee, the collapse of TH Möbler was primarily caused by an unsustainable financial situation. Operating costs had grown too high in relation to revenue, with rent for the large showroom premises identified as one of the most significant burdens on the business.
The retailer had operated from several locations over the years before settling in larger premises in the Ingelsta area. Known for offering distinctive and high-end furniture pieces, the company had built a niche reputation in the local market. However, mounting costs and insufficient profitability ultimately forced the business to close.
As part of the bankruptcy proceedings, four to five employees will lose their jobs. Efforts to find a buyer for the business are considered unlikely to succeed, largely because the lease for the large showroom space represents a substantial financial commitment for any potential investor.
To repay creditors, the company's remaining stock will be sold through a digital auction managed by a specialist auction house. The process, expected to begin within days, will allow buyers to bid online for the furniture currently held in the warehouse.
Investigations into the company's financial situation are still ongoing, with the total amount of debt and the list of creditors yet to be fully determined.
