Marzena Uram from Lenart Meble shares how flexible systems are transforming living spaces

Modular furniture is becoming the smartest investment in interiors

Across Europe's cities, the size of living spaces is evolving, and with it the expectations placed on furniture. Apartments are becoming more compact, daily routines more fluid, and interiors are increasingly expected to serve multiple purposes within a single room. In this shifting landscape, furniture manufacturers are rethinking how design, functionality, and technology can work together to support modern lifestyles.

For Polish manufacturer Lenart Meble, these changes have become a central point of development. With more than three decades of experience in furniture design and production, the company focuses on solutions that allow interiors to adapt to everyday life rather than the other way around. Marzena Uram, Marketing Manager at Lenart Meble, shares how modular thinking is reshaping contemporary interiors.

Designing for changing lifestyles
According to Marzena, the starting point for innovation often lies in observing how people actually live today. 'We see that lifestyles are changing quickly, particularly in large cities where living spaces are becoming smaller,' she explains. 'Customers increasingly expect furniture that can perform more than one function and that allows them to transform a room during the day.'

These observations led to the development of the company's Concept line, a modular system designed to bring flexibility to modern interiors. 'The idea was to create furniture that genuinely responds to everyday challenges,' Marzena says. 'With Bed Concept, a living room can easily transform into a bedroom, while Work Concept introduces a practical workspace. Concept Junior, meanwhile, makes it possible to create a fully functional youth room even in a limited area.'

The intention, she adds, was to ensure that functionality never comes at the expense of aesthetics. 'We wanted solutions that simplify daily life while still feeling visually refined.'

Modular thinking in modern homes
Space efficiency has become a defining factor in residential design, not only for private homes but also for developers and rental properties. Marzena believes modular furniture plays a key role in making smaller interiors more adaptable.

'Systems such as Bed Concept allow a full-value bedroom to be created in a living room,' she notes. 'This increases the functionality of the apartment without increasing its physical size.'

For industry professionals, the implications extend beyond residential comfort. 'For B2B partners, this approach opens the door to more flexible interior layouts,' Marzena explains. 'Retailers can also offer products that respond to real market needs and stand apart from standard furniture solutions.'

Supporting designers and retail partners
The company's modular approach also shapes how it collaborates with architects, retailers, and project developers. Rather than offering standalone products, Lenart Meble provides tools that help partners present adaptable interior concepts.

'We work closely with retail chains, architects, and independent stores,' Marzena says. 'Alongside the furniture itself, we provide ready to use interior concepts, technical materials, and visual tools that make it easier to present the solutions to clients.'

Digital support plays an important role in this process. 'Our partners have access to configurators, 3D models, and showroom systems,' she adds. 'These tools allow designers to demonstrate the full potential of modular furniture and adapt it to different interior layouts.'

Future of flexible interiors
Looking ahead, Marzena sees several trends shaping the next generation of furniture design. 'One of the most significant developments is the growing demand for multifunctional interiors,' she says. 'People work from home more often, live in smaller apartments, and expect greater flexibility in how their spaces function.'

Technology is also beginning to influence how furniture interacts with its users. 'We are seeing increasing interest in solutions that include automation, such as electric opening systems or integration with mobile applications,' Marzena explains.

For Lenart Meble, the goal remains centred on adaptability. 'Our direction is to create furniture that allows the function of an interior to change easily,' she concludes. 'If a room can shift from workspace to living area to bedroom without losing comfort or design quality, then the furniture truly supports the way people live today.'
