Viccarbe launches collection designed in collaboration with Italian designer

Spanish furniture brand Viccarbe has unveiled Missiva, a new soft seating collection developed in collaboration with Italian designer Luca Pevere, marking the first partnership between the two. Conceived around the idea of connection, the system explores both the relationship between its modular elements and the interactions it fosters among users in shared spaces.

At the core of the collection is a sofa that can be transformed into a variety of seating configurations, including an armchair, bench or pouf, through the addition or removal of armrests and backrests. The system's flexibility enables designers to adapt the seating to different environments such as waiting areas, transit spaces and meeting zones across hospitality, cultural and workplace settings.

Pevere's design approach focuses on translating complex industrial principles into accessible and enduring forms. With Missiva, this philosophy results in a compact and configurable seating system designed to support dynamic uses in contemporary interiors. Its proportions—closer to the height of a chair than a traditional sofa, encourage both comfortable seating and an easy rise, making it suitable for spaces where movement and interaction are frequent.

The collection also includes four low table models, designed to complement the seating system and reinforce its visual coherence. These tables are offered in one height and four dimensions, with five polished finishes available. A shared leg structure, available in white, black or polished aluminium, acts as a unifying element across the entire system.

Reflecting on the design process, Luca Pevere explained: "the main challenge of the project was to maintain a high aesthetic level without renouncing functionality, and to do so without moving too far away from Viccarbe's language."

Missiva's distinctive identity is defined by a continuous stitching detail, inspired by the flap of a traditional envelope, an element that also gives the collection its name. This detail visually connects the backrest and armrests while highlighting the craftsmanship behind the upholstery. The stitching also enables a range of aesthetic configurations, from monochromatic finishes in fabric or leather to more expressive combinations of materials and colours, with leather wrapping the outer shell.

Alongside its aesthetic features, the collection integrates discreet electrification solutions that respond to contemporary workplace and hospitality needs without disrupting the clarity of the design.

With Missiva, Viccarbe expands its portfolio with a seating system designed to structure spaces through connection, reinforcing the brand's vision of design as a means of fostering interaction, continuity and human-centred environments.
